Detective Series Theme Week

So,i’m officially back and before i begin i’d like to say i missed you *sobs*.

I’ll be doing a theme week as a start so lets get right to it.

This weeks Theme is Detective Series. I know there have been a lot of detective series airing making it hard to choose from or even steering you away from that type of series in general. This week,i’ll be guiding you through the best detective series i have watched so far.

  1. TAKE TWO

Now if you were a Hart of Dixie fan, more specifically, Rachel Bilson, you should already be watching this. Samantha Swift(Played by Rachel Bilson) is the former star of a hit cop series(Hot suspect),who has an epic breakdown that is broadcast to the public and sends her to rehab and she finds herself stalled professionally. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing lone-wolf private investigator Eddie Valetik (Played by Eddie Cibrian) as research for a potential comeback role.Unfortunately the offer for this role doesn’t last long and Sam finds herself in court after breaking terms of her recovery program when she is spotted getting out of a bar. Though Eddie resents what he views as a baby-sitting gig,he pleads her case and the court allows her to go back into the world only if she is under his custody for the next 6 months.

I was skeptic about this series, because, well, how many more of these detective series do i have to watch with the same effin theme???!!But since all my favorites are out on break, i had to give it a chance. Sam is high-spirited, fun, human(for lack of a better word) and best of all smart. Most washed out actors/actresses who pair up with cops or Private investigators are often portrayed as too dumb or simply talented. Smart is never the word. When solving a case, they ‘stumble’ on to ‘something’ that puts everything together.

In Take Two, you get to see Sam use what she ‘learnt’ from acting detective and her intuition to solve the crimes. She is quirky, empathetic, relate able and exhumes some form of professionalism in general. I have to mention the annoying “you are Sam Swift..I’m such a huge fan” thing that keeps happening in not only this series but the many others that have celebrity pairings. Someone tell the writers that we get that she/he is a celebrity, and move on. There is also the usual tension that is often drawn out in this type of detective series, which is tired, but i must say, it is the closest to ‘castle’ i have felt while watching it.

Seasons; 1

Episodes; 5 , will be complete with 13 episodes.

Airs; Every Thursday, available for download on Friday.

Share your thoughts on the series in the comment section and look out for the next detective series you should be watching tomorrow.
