Attack on Titan: “Give your hearts!”

Warning: The trailer is gruesome, disgusting and horrifying; it contains scenes of humans being eaten alive.

My first foreign  language to learn was Japanese back in 2011. Inspired by the Battle of Iwo Jima, i quickly started learnt how to say Kon’nichiwa and Kuso! Japanese is a lot like kikuyu – so easy on the L and ello 🙂 Fast forward to 2015 and i saw my first truly “good” manga movie – Attack on Titan “Shingeki no Kyojin”

This is science fiction horror film with some very funny acting and monsters. Giant sized ghosts and demons terrorize the citizens – it is full of action sequences, very surprising given that fans of the cartoon series protested that the movie is “watered down”! What! The movie received critical reception in Japan and earned 5.1 million dollars in its opening weekend.

Attack On Titan

Eren Yeager, and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, join the Survey Corps, a military corporation to fight gigantic humanoids called the Titans after their hometown is attacked by a Colossal Titan. The film is split into two parts, with the first part released in Japan on August 1, 2015 and the second part (subtitled End of the World) released on September 19, 2015.

Story-line: One hundred years ago, the Titans suddenly appeared and decimated most of humanity. To stop their advance, humanity built walls and lived peacefully there for another 100 years. In the present day, Eren Yeager expresses to his friends, Armin Arlert and Mikasa Ackerman, his desire to leave the Walls and see the outside world. After a failed attempt to leave the walls, Souda, the captain of the Garrison, explains to them that the military is assembling a scouting regiment to explore beyond the walls. However, the Wall is suddenly attacked by the Colossal Titan, who causes a hole in the wall which leads the Titans to enter and rampage. Unable to find Mikasa, Eren assumes she died during the attack.

Oh, just realized not everyone can speak Japanese! So here is the English version of the trailer. Forgive me.

This is easily the best movie coming of 2015 coming from Japan and is our chosen…
